Apparently Christmas in July is a thing
It's a press thing (believe it or not journalists start thinking about Christmas editions around now) and it's an antipodean thing - an opportunity to try out holding a cooler version Christmas in their winter season.
I spent many years having Christmas in warmer climes and I never really got used to it - I found myself feeling like Dorothy "we're not in Kansas anymore" when I could go for an outdoor swim on Christmas Day without a hot water bottle, flask, thermals and a mahoosive coat.
But it does mean that I can successfully conjure up some Christmas cheer in the middle of summer so if you are celebrating this month - Happy Christmas in July to you.
