Did you know August is the most popular month to move house?

Yes it's true - whilst packing boxes in a heatwave may not be everyone's dream summer activity it is preferable to lugging furniture about in an icy blizzard.

I should know the last time we moved it was snowing, and it was lockdown - the cats did not enjoy that day especially as we ended up sitting in the van outside the new place for a couple of hours waiting for keys because there was nowhere else we could go!

Plus for those with families the long summer school holiday is the perfect time for relocations between school years, towns, or even countries.

We've moved overseas and back again and in between moved inside the UK and others - so far I have lived at over 20 different addresses-- although I don't have any plans to add any more to the list you never know!

Like most things in life there are good and bad sides to moving about. The up side is always for me a chance to clear out some clutter and set about designing and decorating my new space.

Plus theres the chance for box top picnics, camp cooking, bath washing up and all manner of ridiculous ways we manage as we renovate, re-do and make-do as we make our new home our own.

At the moment we are having quite extensive building work done at home

So there's been destruction, (the dust!) we're still in the construction stage (see above) and slowly we are building a brand new kitchen which will hopefully be warmer, dryer, brighter, and big enough to comfortably seat us all in our new kitchen diner.

In the meantime we are washing up in the bath with water boiled in the kettle, eating on our laps on the sofa (we are a 3 meals a day at the table family usually) and playing tetris with the temporary kitchen space.

However in (hopefully not very many more weeks) we will be moving into our new kitchen space  - watch out for me making the most of the opportunity to get some new product photography done before the pixies fill the new kitchen with their chaos and crumbs.
