Did you know that my cats design features my illustrations of my very own Zac & Solo.
Here they are snuggled up in their favourite blankets and radiator hammocks.
They are rescues we brought home with us when we moved back to the UK. They prefer a slightly warmer climate than London offers for large parts of the year but they are very happy to have discovered the miracle of central heating and radiators.
They are not litter mates but they have been together since they were tiny and are very well bonded so they are frequently found curled up with each other or draped across each other in increasingly ludicrous positions and I wanted to record that closeness as part of my design.
I love the vibrant orange background, it sets off their monochrome coats really well as well as making me think of autumn leaves - I do think cats and autumn go well together.
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that Solo (the mostly white cat) only has 1 working eye which you can see when you look closely at the design. This is because in his youthful years Solo believed himself to be much bigger and tougher than he actually was and never backed down from a confrontation with an invading tougher Tom cat. He nearly lost one eye when he was 3 years old but the amazing vets we had then managed to save it (at not inconsiderable expense- eek!), he lost the sight in the other eye when he was 11 and is a little more circumspect about imposter cats these days.
